Getting Started

Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge la machine. Connect a standard USB-C cable (not included) to the USB-C port located on the back of the device and to any certified 5V DC USB power source. A full charge takes approximately 2–3 hours. The device can be used while charging.

Important Use only a certified 5V DC power source (USB). Using non-compliant chargers may pose a fire risk or damage the device.

Basic Operation

  1. Ensure the device is charged.
  2. Place la machine on a flat, stable surface.
  3. Flip the toggle switch located on the top surface of the device.
  4. The device will respond with a unique combination of motorized arm movements and sound effects, then switch itself off.
  5. Repeat as desired. Each interaction is unique thanks to the randomized behavior system.

Orientation Sensitivity

la machine includes an accelerometer that detects its orientation. The device's behavior may vary depending on how it is positioned. For normal operation, place the device on a flat surface with the toggle switch facing up.

Low Battery Indicator

When the battery is running low, la machine will signal this in two ways upon activation: it will play a distinctive low-battery sound, and the motorized arm will move noticeably slower than usual. This is your cue to recharge the device soon. Connect a USB-C cable to resume normal operation.

Charging & Battery

la machine is powered by an internal rechargeable lithium polymer battery. Charge the device using any standard USB-C cable connected to a certified 5V DC power source. The device includes built-in charge management circuitry that prevents overcharging.

Charging Behavior

When you connect the USB-C cable, la machine will indicate it is charging by slightly opening its lid — a subtle gesture that it is alive and receiving power. Once fully charged, the lid will close again on its own. You can safely leave the device connected; it will not overcharge.

Tip A slight opening of the lid means charging is in progress. A closed lid means the battery is full.
Battery Safety Do not charge or store the device at temperatures above 45°C (113°F). Do not attempt to open the device to access or replace the battery yourself. If the battery no longer holds a charge, contact Multiplié support for repair or replacement options. la machine is designed to be fully repairable.

Travel & Shipping Mode

To prevent la machine from activating accidentally during transport or storage, it features a dedicated Travel Mode (also called Shipping Mode). In this mode, the device is completely inert: it will not respond to the toggle switch, make any sound, or move.

Activating Travel Mode

  1. Turn la machine upside down (place it on its back).
  2. Flip the toggle switch twice in quick succession.
  3. A confirmation sound will play, indicating that Travel Mode is now active.
In Travel Mode The device will not respond to any switch activation. This is normal — it is working as intended.

Deactivating Travel Mode

  1. Turn la machine upside down again.
  2. Flip the toggle switch twice in quick succession.
  3. A confirmation sound will play, and the device returns to normal operation.
Note Always activate Travel Mode before packing la machine in a bag or shipping it. This avoids any accidental activation and preserves battery charge during transport.
