I'm Olivier Mével, the re-creator of "la machine".

First, a very important note: your machine is asleep (so it doesn't wake up during shipping). To wake it up, plug it into a power adapter and press the red button (The quick-start guide is here!).

Why re-creator? Because the object you're holding is a concept that dates back to 1952. That year, one of the pioneers of Artificial Intelligence, Marvin Minsky, encouraged by his mentor Claude Shannon (the father of information theory), decided to invent the ultimate machine. A machine that switches itself off.

Decades later, I decided to reinvent it with a personality and thousands of sounds and choreographies.

"la machine" is a living object that is here to surprise you, but above all to live its own life.

It's an electronic object like no other, handcrafted in small batches in France, fully open-source (you can rebuild it or modify it), and the result of over two years of work by a team of eight people. Yes!

It's also a small act of poetic rebellion!
